FAQs

Braun Series 9 FAQs

What's the difference between foil and rotary shavers?
Rotary shavers are designed to work with cyclical movements while Braun foil shavers are designed to work with efficient sideways movements on the skin giving perfect control and precision. The foils protect the skin from irritation and are specifically designed to deliver the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun.

Do you have any recommendation on how to shave with an electric foil shaver?
We recommend that you shave before you take a shower. Stretch the skin and shave against the direction of beard growth. At all times, hold the shaver at a right angle (90°) to your skin. Keep the pressure even to achieve the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun. To trim sideburns, moustache or beard, Series 9 features an intergrated precision trimmer with superior cutting performance. In order to use this comfortable and precise tool, simply slide the trimmer upwards.

How do I clean my shaver?
The new Braun Series 9 cc shavers feature the Braun Automatic Clean & Charge Station, proven to clean more hygienically than tap water. The 5-action Clean & Charge Station: automatically cleans, charges, lubricates, selects cleaning program and dries at the touch of a button for lasting cutting efficiency. All Series 9 shavers are also waterproof up to 5m for full washability.

How often do I need to change the shaver head?
We recommend replacing all cutter parts every 18 months.
To maintain optimal performance, we included a replacement part indicator in the display to ensure that you know when to exchange the cutter parts.

Does the battery have a memory effect as we know it from cell phones or laptops?
No, Series 9 shavers use a Li-ion battery which has no memory effect. You can recharge it whenever you want and it has a low self-discharge rate (vs. NiMh batteries). Li-Ion batteries are therefore the most powerful and long-lasting battery available for Braun shavers.

Where is Series 9 shaver manufactured?
Like all Braun premium shavers, Series 9 is designed, engineered, and manufactured in Germany to ensure the very best build quality and reliability. All of our shavers are designed and tested to last at least 7 years, giving you the peace of mind that you can continue to enjoy the unique Series 9 experience for a very long time.

Braun series 9 shaver

This shaver could be one of the best I have used in quite some time. I am quite fussy as to how I shave due to getting razor burn and having sensitive skin. I am also brand loyal. This razor gives a very close shave without the need to repeat shave the same place several times causing a rash. I used both wet and dry and was happy with the result on every occasion. The wet setting did feel a bit strange!!The shaver comes with a cleaning system that I feel is a bit big to be honest. You would need to have some real space to store and use the cleaner base. Having said that it does clean provide a very thorough clean. The cleaning liquid only lasts so long and would need to be replaced. This will probably be pricey and the shaving foil would need to be replaced also costing a pretty penny. In all, This is not a shaver I would normally use, but I will certainly continue. An Electric Razor that changed my preconceptions

Having only ever wet shaved with a traditional safety razor I had lulled my self into the opinion that an electric razor had no place in my morning routine. I should also point out I have very sensitive skin and often suffer from razor burn. When seeing that the Braun Razor could be used whilst wet and claimed to deliver a very close shave I thought it would be worth a thorough test. The first week of having the Razor I decided that I would use it every day for a week;a: To see how it would effect my skinb: To test how close the shave would be and how I looked at the end of a waking dayc: To see how practical it was and the time it would take.I must admit my first day of using the razor was a bit of a disappointment; my shave took considerably longer, was not as close and managed to cut myself. The one plus point was the ability to use this with shaving foam after a shower just like I would do usually.I placed the razor back on its base and ran the cleaning cycle which I must admit was very convenient and left the unit with a clean citrus scent. The following day I read up a little on use with an electric razor and better understood the need to maintain a 90degree angle to the face at all times. I also refrained from going over the same patch too many times. This resulted in a slightly closer shave than the day before, faster shave time and no cuts. In addition I noted that I was suffering less razor burn.Through out the week I could tell that my skin was recovering, however I did find that by the end of a working day my stubble was not as short as I would like and not suitable for a business meeting.Over the last 2 weeks I have decided that this razor works best for me on a weekend use only basis allowing me to give my face the rest it needs; whilst maintaining a clean shaven look 7 days a week.Whilst I may not be a total convert to Electric Razors the Braun Series 9 has made it into my weekly routine. Something I still believe a lesser razor would never have been able to do. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Braun Series 9 9296cc Shaver

Awsome shaver!I normally use a razor and am often left with razor burn or multiple lacerations to the face. I've used electric razors before but it's a pain to have to clean it and maintain it not to mention they'd often snag/pinch and the shave isn't even that close. The Braun series 9 is easy to use and is the closest shave I've had from an electric razor, I would go so far as to say it parallels the manual razor but without the blood loss!It says it works upto 3 day beards, I've tried it on 4 day beards and it still works perfect.Has a great rubber grip and can be used wet.Best of all it cleans itself!!!Just pop it into the charge station and press the button. Also comes with a travel case, perfect to take on a business trip or holiday. In short, a great shaver. Not as impressive as I initially thought

I had earlier seen reviews of Braun 7 and 9 series and was quite impressed with what was shown on the video. So, I had a high expectations to begin with. IN the box: a Series 9 shaver, charging cord, shaver case, cleaning platform with one cartridge.I use another brand body groomer, so I am used to cleaning through difficult contours with an electric shaver. Specifically for shaving itself, this is my first try though. Good things first: 1. The shaver looks premium and though it came discharged, it got charged fairly quickly compared to the other brand that I have. The charging and cleaning station also has a premium look and feel.2. The shaving action is very smooth - there is no drag on the skin. I have a slightly acne prone skin and it didn't cause any irritations, so that should give enough indication. Tip: You do not always need to use the charging station. It is very easy to take the head out and wash it in running water. Charging can be done without the charging station as well. Thus, you may need the charging station once a month or less frequently depending on your shaving frequency. Now, the bad part, for which I gave it 2 stars - It does not function well: I read some good reviews online, so don't know if the problem was with my unit only but I have to base my review on that. If I had purchased it, I would have returned it.This part of the review is based on 2 trials from my side just to exclude the possibility that I might have done something wrong the first time. The shaver works perfectly well (in fact, great) on the cheeks and around the mouth. This part of the face happens to be relatively straight forward. However, it doesn't even cut properly (leave alone a smooth cut) on the underside of the chin and neck. I took many photos but am able to upload only one. I had tried to use the shaver multiple times over the same area - so many times that I started to have headache due to the vibrations. Good thing is that it didn't cause any graze/cuts but had no impact on the length of the hair. I had to use my manual razor finally to clean that part. I tried again after a week. This time trying more carefully. The results were still the same - Excellent at cheeks and front (relatively straight contours) but poor elsewhere. I had to use my razor for the underside of the chin and the neck again. Mind you, I already mentioned that I have experience of difficult body contours. So, I am confident that the flaw is not in my usage.I do see that the product worked for many and so it has for many reviewers online as well but it didn't work in my case - possible that I got a faulty unit as well. I hope the company takes this feedback to further improve their design - I might be the odd one out but may not be alone :-) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Worth the money ?

First of all thanks to Bzzagent and Braun for sending me Braun Series 9 9296cc. I stopped using ordinary razors years ago due to sensitive skin and very thick growth. I have been using Braun Series 3 for a couple of years, and recently I was thinking about upgrading to a higher series. Series 9 looks beautiful, using high end tech blades and premium materials. The LED display and cleaning station are a great bonus. However end result is very similar to the Series 3 which is much, MUCH cheaper. I am not able to shave every 1 or 2 days because it makes my skin red and uncomfortable (whether I use Series 3 or 9 or an ordinary razor). I usually leave it to grow for about 4 or 5 days, then use the trimmer to shorten the facial hair before using the shaver. The trimmer on Series 9 is much smaller, and it has a small bump before the blade which makes it awkward and hard to use. So I have to switch back to my Series 3 trimmer, which is much wider and easier to use. To compere the shavers, I shaved half of my face with series 3, the other half with series 9. I have to say, at the beginning Series 9 is a bit smoother on my skin and it did better job around my chin and jaw area. However I had to go over lip and neck area many, many times to get the most of the hair off, which started to burn my skin and felt uncomfortable. The shaving blades are far too wide and i found it hard to shave around the lips and right under the nose. In the end i had to use an ordinary razor to finish up the neck, as Series 9 did a poor job there. Series 3 a bit better on the neck, but still at times i have to finish up with an ordinary razor to get one or two stubborn hairs. When i compared each side of my face, I could not see much difference. Series 9 side looked the same, maybe slightly better than the other side, but at the cost of going over the same area more times and making my skin uncomfortable and red. If you want great looking shaver with a cleaning station and premium materials, Series 9 is great. IF you don't mind the appearance, and want a shaver that gives u the same quality of shave, with much better trimmer. Series 3 will do the job for much cheaper price. I will continue to use the trimmer on my Series 3 and shave with Series 9, hoping the end result will get better as it can take time to get used to a new shaver. An electric shaver in a league of it's own

Okay, I've always been a manual razor type of guy. Not so much as I need a particularly close shave, but I've never found an electric shaver that has been capable of making my life easier. They either tug, or leave a patchy finish and quite a lot of skin irritation. I tend to end up finishing off with a manual razor in any case. However, the Braun does a fine job of shaving. Okay, it not quite as close as a manual razor, and if that's what your hoping for, it's probably not going to fulfil your needs. But it is however, by far the closest shave I've ever had from an electric razor. It's quick and efficient, and even cleans itself. It's a little louder than I'd expected, but that's not really an issue. Looks stylish on the shelf, and does a fine job on 2 or 3 day stubble (not sure id go too much further than 3 days).Overall, the best electric razor I have used by far, and for the time being, it's kept my manual razor at bay. Only time will tell if that remains to be the case but I've not been tempted to date.Excellent job Braun!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Nice clean shave not pulling!! Yayyy

smart appearance, with a quality feel. The automatic charging doc is very handy, stores the shaver keeping it safe charged and still looking very nice. As for the shave, very smooth didn't snag or pull at all with a dry shave, very even coverage and no missed hairs. Very impressive. The only negative for myself is I prefer to keep a longer stuble, and the handle is rather chunky [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Keeps my beard neat and tidy

This is the first electric shaver I've ever used. It doesn't pull and neatly cuts the hair that I want it to cut. The shaver can be charged either directly or in its stand where it can also be cleaned. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Cleanest shave to date.

I was reluctant to use an electric shaver due to past experiences. The main problem was leaving me with a blu beard. I have Braun the benefit of the doubt and was shocked that not only did it leave me with out a resemblance of a blue beard. I actually looked clean shaven and rash free. All faith has been restored in electric shaves and with be putting my wet shaver away. Not only that this shaver is stylish looking, smooth and easy to use covering all contors of my face and the lastest models now have a cleansing docking station.
