In my earlier review of the Braun Ladyshaver which I got for free I said that the product was ok if you are in a rush but that the skin smoothness of a wet shave or wax were lacking.
I stand by that opinion, if it's date night and you've got a spare 20-30 minutes to de-hair, exfoliate and moisturise then this product just won't be able to compete. If however, you've woken up a bit late and need to get the baby to nursery and yourself to work and have got visibly stubbly underarms and legs (we've all been there), then this is the product for you. It's quick and easy to use and because it's Braun you can be sure it's reliable.
So while this shaver won't replace all the razors, hair removal creams and waxes in your bathroom cabinet it definitely adds another string to your defuzzing bow! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Out the box this little lady shaver looks pretty neat. Really nice size, light, easy features (on/off and legs/bikini) and a couple of head attachments.I had a nice shot shower then prepped my legs with some moisturiser. One stroke with the device with no attachments did the job of shortening the hair but my leg was far from smooth. I continued to do one of my legs with no attachment and it took some time to get my hair to a stage I was satisfied with. For my other leg I used the optishave attachment but sadly didn't find and difference in the results! When I removed the head to clean the hair off it I noticed that the foil cover of the blades had been very slightly damaged during my shave. Considering this was literally the first time I had used it I'm not impressed with the quality of the head. The rest of the device and the other attachments seem very sturdy though.I found that I had no razor burn which is a big plus for me, but for the time it took to get the same results as my manual razor, I think I shall stick with manual for now [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I was lucky enough to get to try the Braun Lady Shaver LS5100 free from Braun, and I have to say that this might have converted me.
Now the weather is getting better, I'm getting my legs out more which means needing to have fuzz free pins! I first tried my Lady Shaver on around ten days worth of growth and found it to be relatively hassle free. I had to go over the same area a couple of times, but this razor doesn't create much friction so it was OK. A little time consuming, but reduces the risk of injury as I'm prone to cutting myself with a normal razor when I'm in a hurry. It's easy to use, and you can easily switch between settings for legs and body. The springy head and guard make it a nice smooth shave over the contours of your legs and underarms, and the shape of the product means that it's easy to hold (I also love the fact it's feminine looking without being PINK!)
Following the initial shave, using it every couple of days keeps my legs silky smooth and doesn't irritate as much as using a normal razor in the shower.
The battery operation means that it is easily portable and you don't have to worry about packing lots of chargers (great for holidays!). The only downside is that it is a little more time consuming than regular wet shaving, but I didn't cut myself like I usually do, so that's got to be a bonus! Plus I don't get the horrid razor burn which I do with regular saving, so it's comfortable and kinder to my skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Ive never used an electric shaver before, so I was excited to try the Braun Lady Shaver. My first impression was smart packaging, I liked the name Silk-epil- to be honest I originally thought it was an epilator because of the name.
I like the colour scheme, pink and purple, very girly!
I like that it comes with its own batteries and a brush to clean it with, it also contains two attachments - one for bikini line and one called optishave which is designed to make the shave more comfortable, they are in a matching purple colour.
Using the lady shaver was really simple. Just pop the batteries in, turn on and go.
Im used to a really close shave as I shave my legs in the shower or I use hair removal cream. The lady shaver did not give me the close shave that I am used to. I had to press quite hard on my skin and go over the same area of my legs to get it as close as I wanted - but it still feels a bit stubbly so I will have to go over it with a razor. For this reason I wouldn't recommend this product for your legs. Also because I used it on dry skin before I had a shower, it is more messy than I am used to, than just shaving in the shower or rinsing in shower cream away.
What I liked about the lady shaver is that for bikini line this is quite good, with razors and creams you can get a rash when the hair grows back -but as this trims the hair above the skin line, therefore I think the lady shaver is a much better option for bikini lines. I received the Braun Lady Shaver LS5100 free from Braun to trial which I was very pleased aboutKnowing that I was going to receive this, I thought I may as well let my hair on my legs and arms and bikini grow like a yeti as I wanted to give a good honest reviewAs soon as I received this it was skin out, batteries inserted into the Braun LS5100 Shaver and good to go, I have to say that with my legs and I am olive skinned and have dark hair which is tougher then blonde hair and I did have to go over my legs twice with these to get a smooth hair free result and esp had to concentrate around the knee areas, however once I had done that my legs felt as smooth as silk so I was esp pleasedMy arms and bikini area, was much easier to do and where with a razor in these areas I get a rash, using the Braun LS5100 I had no rash and only had to use once to get a smooth finish. I loved the product and it was pretty and girly I just wish it had a option so you could charge it as well as use batteries if required, as I have to shave every day and if I am having to so could be expensive in terms of batteries etc but other then that would certainly give the thumbs up [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I was excited to try the Braun lady shaver ls5100, which I received free from Braun!! Its the perfect time of year too have a quick reliable shaver to use. I was unsure what length of hair it would remove - not that the hair on my legs was that long!! It was a bit noisier than I expected however worked very quickly and with a lot of ease. The sun was out so I didn't want to spend long in shaving - wanted to get out there before the sun hid again.
It did a very good job although I didn't give it much time. It was so easy to use , and I was well impressed that the batteries came inside the box - no fuss of having to run about to find some at last minute.
the shaver is very light and easy to carry around if you were taking it on holiday or a night away etc.
overall it worked very well and removed most of the hairs, leaving very short ones behind.
better than I thought it would work, so I was impressed! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I received a Braun Silk Epil Lady Shaver Ls5100 to test out and keep (for free!) and I have been using it for a few weeks now.
It arrives in a stylish black box, looking all business. there is plenty of information on the sides and back of the box but the front is left fairly clear and attractive with only essential information and product pictures. if I saw this product box in a shop it is one I would pick up.
inside the box you find a pink shaver, two plastic attachments, a cleaning brush, some batteries and an instruction/maintenance booklet. I found it a little annoying to have to unwrap each individual thing in the box but once you are in, it is really easy to understand the instruction leaflet and to insert the batteries.
using the device is straight forward, there is a big purple and white button on the front that you press and slide up to switch it on, and brace yourself for the noise! it really does buzz! this is not a discreet shaver, that you could use quickly at the gym or wherever for an emergency shave before a night out, this is a strictly in the privacy of you own home shaver. it is loud.
there are two cutting surfaces, a traditional shaving foil and a floating trimmer. these work together because the trimmer floats over the surface of your skin (like wheel suspension on a car) and it trims the hairs, especially any longer ones, then the shaving foil shaves down the remaining stubble leaving in a closer and smoother result. its a nice feature that this surfaces are "floating" as it means that they conform to the contours of you body as you go, so difficult area such as knees become less difficult. you can get them done with less passes. you should note though that the trimmer only floats when the shaver is set to leg mode. this mode is selected by a sliding purple button just below the shaving head, on the front. there is a picture of legs on the right and a bikini on the left. when the button is in the left position the trimmer is locked in place (not floating) so that it can be used as a precision trimmer to style hair in bikini area. one of the plastic attachments is also for this purpose, and looks a little like a comb that clips easily over the shaving head. locking the trimmer head is useful for creating straight lines if thats what you desire and the attachment would help you to achieve an even overall length if you aim was to trim and not to shave. so useful features for some people, not features I personally can comment on as I prefer to fully shave, which I can tell you this device did very well, although a little awkward until I got the hang of using a new device!
the other plastic attachment is the opti-shave attachment, and personally I found no benefit to it. it is meant to aid you in achieving the correct shaving angles to maintain contact of both cutting surfaces at all times, for optimum performance, but honestly i found it cumbersome and it didnt really improve the shave at all, so i stopped using it. it may be useful for someone who has never used an electric shaver before.
after use you can brush any hair off of the trimmers and leave it like that or you can wash it all under the tap if you want to. it all comes a part easily and goes together again without any effort. just remember if you do wash it after use, you'll need to apply vaseline to the cutters inside to keep them in tip top condition afterwards (its all shown in the booklet and very easy).
over all I can say that the performance of this shaver is what i would expect. it does give relatively smooth results when compared to other electric shavers, but no electric shaver gets as close as a real razor. its very intuitive to use and apart from the maintenance part i wouldn't have needed the manual at all. it fits nicely in my hand (which are fairly small and weak! lol) and does the job. I dont like the noise or the colour but those thins are minor annoyances . the attachments are of no use to me personally but I see what purpose they have and why they are there. I cant say i would definitely buy this shaver over others i have tried, but i cant say that i wouldnt either. its good, not great. it reliably does the job, albeit noisily, so if thats all you want, no bells and whistles, then maybe this is one for you. 10/10 from me. I received this free from Braun When I wasn't really sure weather to join in or not as I'd had a Braun lady shaver years ago and found it absolutely rubbish. But I must say it Braun have definatly improver their lady shaved very impressed. So quick an easy which is brilliant when you have baby and don't have time to lay in the bath etc [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I've never used one of these before so was quite looking forward to trying it out. I must say it seemed like a bit of an anti climax. After reading the what it's capable of from the instructions I thought it would be a quick process. However, I found I had to keep going over my legs 3/4 times. Still felt a bit stubbly afterwards as well. I'm going to give it another go and see if my perception changes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Great little shaver for the recommended retail price, although very noisy it does the job, maybe not close enough for a special occasion tho [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
