I received the Braun Lady Shaver LS5100 free from Braun to trial which I was very pleased aboutKnowing that I was going to receive this, I thought I may as well let my hair on my legs and arms and bikini grow like a yeti as I wanted to give a good honest reviewAs soon as I received this it was skin out, batteries inserted into the Braun LS5100 Shaver and good to go, I have to say that with my legs and I am olive skinned and have dark hair which is tougher then blonde hair and I did have to go over my legs twice with these to get a smooth hair free result and esp had to concentrate around the knee areas, however once I had done that my legs felt as smooth as silk so I was esp pleasedMy arms and bikini area, was much easier to do and where with a razor in these areas I get a rash, using the Braun LS5100 I had no rash and only had to use once to get a smooth finish. I loved the product and it was pretty and girly I just wish it had a option so you could charge it as well as use batteries if required, as I have to shave every day and if I am having to so could be expensive in terms of batteries etc but other then that would certainly give the thumbs up [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The second time I used braun ladyshaver LS5100 I tried using the bikini attachment. Personally for me it cuts the hair quite long so I removed the attachment & just used the usual head. The lack of cable makes it much easier to use on the bikini area which is a plus, my epilator needs to be plugged in while using which is why I was so happy to receive this lady shaver for free from braun. The head & shape of the shaver seem like they are more designed to be used on the legs than bikini area as the 'handle' is a bit long. The other issues I had were similar to when I used it on my legs, it doesn't give a close shave no matter how much I pulled the skin taught, the shaver attachment on my epilator is much closer. Also I cut myself as I did on my legs. As a positive it is quiet, it's also reasonably priced! I think I will use this when I don't want to plug in my epilator for touch ups but it's just not a close enough shave to replace my current model.
- No cable/battery powered - a very big plus
- Well priced
- Bikini attachment cuts hair very long- not sure what the purpose of this is
- Longer handle & shape of head more difficult to use on bikini area & probably underarms
- Doesn't give a close shave
- Easy to cut skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
As I got this product free from Braun I thought I'd better try the lady shaver with its attachments to see if they made a difference to the way it worked. I first tried the optishave attachment to see if it gave a closer and quicker shave than without. It did help marginally as it helps to keep the skin flat but I wouldn't say It made a great deal of difference and I still had to go over all of the areas multiple times in different directions to get all of the little hairs that were there. I then decided to use the bikini line attachment. I did use the shiver initially without it to see how it fares on inner leg areas and it actually works pretty well and was pretty comfortable with no nicks, cuts or discomfort which was great. I then used the attachment for bikini line to finish and it did seem to still cut very close but at least some think was left! The pivoting heads on the shaver are something I haven't mentioned in a previous review and they do help to mould to the contours of the skin however you do need to go over areas multiple times in different directions despite this To get a close shave and a smooth finish. Knees are still tricky. Again even with the attachments I would say it's a great product for a novice who is new to shaving and wants something that is safe - like a young girl who is just starting to shave as it is a very comfortable shaver without any safety issues. The biggest downside is the noise as it is really noisy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I've never used one of these before so was quite looking forward to trying it out. I must say it seemed like a bit of an anti climax. After reading the what it's capable of from the instructions I thought it would be a quick process. However, I found I had to keep going over my legs 3/4 times. Still felt a bit stubbly afterwards as well. I'm going to give it another go and see if my perception changes. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I'd had a Braun shaver (an add on as part of an epilator) many years ago and I absolutely loved it, so my expectations were definitely raised going into this.
First up the box is quite attractive. Sleek and black; it also makes it very clear what you are going to get inside the box. Upon opening the box everything is well wrapped and separated. The accompanying book makes it clear how to use the shaver, and how to set it up. The set up is very very easy. Simply place the batteries in and attach whichever shaver head is more appropriate for the hair length that you'll be removing.
After being told I was receiving the shaver for free, I purposely left my legs unshaved in anticipation. After the quick set up I got around to the defuzzing. First up it's not a wet/dry shaver, which I must admit I found a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. I suppose it's actually quite handy when you're in a rush actually! I was a little more disappointed in it being a battery only shaver, as I find they run out of juice farily quickly.
I started by using the opti-shave attachment, but I wasn't getting a very close shave. So i removed the attachment (as it suggests in the manual for longer hair) and found that it did improve the closeness of the shave a small amount. However I spent around 20 minutes attempting to get a close shave on my leg (yes, just the one leg!), or at least a shave where it actually felt like I'd shaved, and I couldn't.
Not to be deterred by one small setback I also decided to try my underarms and bikini line while I was at it. I had similar problems with my underarms as I did with my legs. I just couldn't get a close enough shave and could actually still visible see the stubble. My bikini line was slightly better. I used the shaver alone as well as with the bikini trimmer attachment, and the results felt slightly smoother than my legs had done. I did however find myself with such an annoying amount of stubble that I later went and reshaved all of the areas I'd already been over with a disposable razor!
Overall the Braun Lady Shaver LS5100 definitely has some up-points. It's easy to assemble and use. My bad experience won't put me off Braun products as I love their epilators (and the shaver that came with my previous one was amazing), however for me, this shaver just doesn't live up to expectations. I got the Braun lady shaver free from Braun to try out. When it arrived I thought it looked good and likes the packaging. The battery compartment is quite hard to get on an off and you feel like it's going to break but you do need to give it quite a tug and push to be able to unattach and attach it. I'm not sure whether this makes it able to be used in the shower or not, I haven't read that in the instructions which could be a reason it's such a snug fit.
I decided to try it without any attachments first on my legs. I did as I would do with any electric shaver and pulled the skin taught and it was a very comfortable shave. there was no nicks or pulling or any pain from using the product. I did find however I had to go over the same area a number of times to get all of the hairs and go in lots of different directions. This was definitely more time-consuming than using a standard razor and shaving gel. However the end result- my legs did feel smooth and I was pleased.
I used it on my underarms, with the same effect. I needed to go over the area a number of times in different directions to get rid of all of the little hairs that were there. But the end result was smooth skin and it was a comfortable shave with no soreness left afterwards
The major downside of the product is the noise. When I first switched it on it actually made me jump. It is ridiculously noisy for the size of the product and I'm not sure why it needs to be that noisy
Would I recommend it? Yes I would. Probably to people that don't like using wet shaving razors and maybe younger girls from a safety point of view as this product would be ideal. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I was excited to try this Lady Shave free from Braun! I've shaved for years and even tried waxing. This is by far the easiest thing to use! Its very light and the attachments are so simple to put and on take off. Instructions, great nothing too confusing. Cleaning the lady shave is just a quick rinse with water and much better than normal razors as hair gets stuck in the blades. The only downside as with any razor Is the hair grows back relatively quick but that's the joys of being a woman :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
In my earlier review of the Braun Ladyshaver which I got for free I said that the product was ok if you are in a rush but that the skin smoothness of a wet shave or wax were lacking.
I stand by that opinion, if it's date night and you've got a spare 20-30 minutes to de-hair, exfoliate and moisturise then this product just won't be able to compete. If however, you've woken up a bit late and need to get the baby to nursery and yourself to work and have got visibly stubbly underarms and legs (we've all been there), then this is the product for you. It's quick and easy to use and because it's Braun you can be sure it's reliable.
So while this shaver won't replace all the razors, hair removal creams and waxes in your bathroom cabinet it definitely adds another string to your defuzzing bow! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
i decided to take my 2 year old son swimming this morning and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out my Braun lady Shaver LS5100 for the first time. I was lucky enough to receive this product free from Braun to try out. I was quite excited to try it as I've not used a lady shaver before.
I was very impressed that the shaver came with batteries! I love the colour of the shaver, the pink makes it very girlie. It was very easy to use too. It comes with a little cleaning brush which came in very handy after use.
As I was going to be wearing a swimming costume, I decided to try it out on my bikini line. I was very happy with the results as the shaver done a much better job than I expected! It done a good enough job for me to not have to go over it with a razor and I was able to wear my costume confidently that same day.
I also tried it on my legs, again it got quite close but I do prefer a close shave on the legs so they aren't prickly.
Overall the shaver was very quick and easy to use. Perfect product for a busy mother of two. It's a shame I haven't owned one sooner! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I think this new Lady shaver that I got FREE from Braun is amazing!! I've tried lady shavers in the past but I was really disappointed by them as they snagged hairs and made my skin really dry so as you can imagine I was very skeptical about this one. My first impressions were very positive getting it out of the box as it is small, light weight and I loved the idea of the attachments. As I knew I had been selected for this product I purposely let my leg hair grow a little in preparation so as soon as it arrived I was ready to go. Upon first use I used the shaver on my dry legs and I was super impressed with how it just glided over the lumps, bumps and curves and most excitingly of all it didn't snag once!!! It was like a dream come true. The only negative I did experience is that I did have to pass over some areas more than twice to actually fully remove the hair so if your in a hurry this might be a problem and could dry the skin out even when wet but as this was my first use it could improve with practice. Also even tho the instructions says this product is able to be rinsed I didn't see any mention of it being suitable for use in the shower and even tho this may be obvious it may not be to some as I feel continued use in the shower is different to an occasional rinse. I do also feel that it may have been handy for the shaver to have come with a small case to keep it in along with the attachments so as not to loose them. Overall I think this product is going to become a regular within my beauty regime and I am excited to see how I get on with it over time the only thing that may affect its use is the cost of the shaver heads which I haven't looked into but if they fair well then it should worked out at the same cost of buying disposable razors. I would definitely recommend this to other women especially those who have had bad experiences before because this is really something else and I'm looking forward to smooth and uncut/grased legs whooopppiii :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
