Summer smooth

Thanks to BzzAgent for letting me test and keep the Braun lady shaver LS5100 for free. Absolutly delighted with it, is easy to use and portable. Gets into the contours of your body perfect and glides over skin effortlessly. Was a bit nervous at first when using the trimmer for my bikini line but it was fab and very gentle on skin. Im now silky smooth all over and ready for the summer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

An honest account of the Braun Lady Shaver LS5100

So I received my Braun Lady Shaver from Braun, I was very excited, I had never used a lady shaver before; I'm more of a 'shave in the shower' type of girl. When it arrived I was impressed with how it looked in the packaging, also not to much packaging which I think is important. I don't like buying a new product and then having to throw away a ton of packaging. Also comes with batteries which is very handy so you don't have to go rummaging through your cupboards to try it out. It is probably worth mentioning that at first I thought there had been a mix up and I had been sent an Epilator, I wasn't overly happy about this since I am a bit of a wimp and didn't want an epilator. This is probably because it had the words 'Silk-Epil' written on the box and I am easily confused, either way that prevented me from trying it out for a week until I was corrected by a friend of mine (who was really jealous of my freebie). When I did get round to trying it it felt a bit strange, like I said, I am used to shaving in the shower, it is weird to get into the habit of shaving and then going in the shower. There was nothing glaringly obvious to say I could get it wet and so I didn't want to test that out. The Braun Lady Shaver comes with lots of attachments to use in different places of the body such as your legs and bikini area. I gave all of these and try, they were easy to attach and unattach and most importantly very easy to clean with the little brush that comes with it. In my experience the lady shaver removed some of the hair from my legs, its especially good for the area on the back of your thighs which tends to get missed (by me at least) but did not leave them with the silky smooth feel of a razor. I think it would be good to use if you're in a hurry but not particularly good for a hot date. Around the bikini area I would say my experience is much the same, the Lady shaver works well for a quick trim up before going swimming but certainly not the same as a razor or waxing. So all in all I would say this product works but it depends on what you are looking for. I gave this product to my friend (obviously I cleaned it first), she does a lot of camping holidays and she says it was fab for that sort of activity. I think I would buy this sort of product if I was going on holiday and I needed something small, easy to use and practical but I don't think I would use this every day. Braun Lady Shaver review

Ive never used an electric shaver before, so I was excited to try the Braun Lady Shaver. My first impression was smart packaging, I liked the name Silk-epil- to be honest I originally thought it was an epilator because of the name. I like the colour scheme, pink and purple, very girly! I like that it comes with its own batteries and a brush to clean it with, it also contains two attachments - one for bikini line and one called optishave which is designed to make the shave more comfortable, they are in a matching purple colour. Using the lady shaver was really simple. Just pop the batteries in, turn on and go. Im used to a really close shave as I shave my legs in the shower or I use hair removal cream. The lady shaver did not give me the close shave that I am used to. I had to press quite hard on my skin and go over the same area of my legs to get it as close as I wanted - but it still feels a bit stubbly so I will have to go over it with a razor. For this reason I wouldn't recommend this product for your legs. Also because I used it on dry skin before I had a shower, it is more messy than I am used to, than just shaving in the shower or rinsing in shower cream away. What I liked about the lady shaver is that for bikini line this is quite good, with razors and creams you can get a rash when the hair grows back -but as this trims the hair above the skin line, therefore I think the lady shaver is a much better option for bikini lines. noisy but reliable.

I received a Braun Silk Epil Lady Shaver Ls5100 to test out and keep (for free!) and I have been using it for a few weeks now. It arrives in a stylish black box, looking all business. there is plenty of information on the sides and back of the box but the front is left fairly clear and attractive with only essential information and product pictures. if I saw this product box in a shop it is one I would pick up. inside the box you find a pink shaver, two plastic attachments, a cleaning brush, some batteries and an instruction/maintenance booklet. I found it a little annoying to have to unwrap each individual thing in the box but once you are in, it is really easy to understand the instruction leaflet and to insert the batteries. using the device is straight forward, there is a big purple and white button on the front that you press and slide up to switch it on, and brace yourself for the noise! it really does buzz! this is not a discreet shaver, that you could use quickly at the gym or wherever for an emergency shave before a night out, this is a strictly in the privacy of you own home shaver. it is loud. there are two cutting surfaces, a traditional shaving foil and a floating trimmer. these work together because the trimmer floats over the surface of your skin (like wheel suspension on a car) and it trims the hairs, especially any longer ones, then the shaving foil shaves down the remaining stubble leaving in a closer and smoother result. its a nice feature that this surfaces are "floating" as it means that they conform to the contours of you body as you go, so difficult area such as knees become less difficult. you can get them done with less passes. you should note though that the trimmer only floats when the shaver is set to leg mode. this mode is selected by a sliding purple button just below the shaving head, on the front. there is a picture of legs on the right and a bikini on the left. when the button is in the left position the trimmer is locked in place (not floating) so that it can be used as a precision trimmer to style hair in bikini area. one of the plastic attachments is also for this purpose, and looks a little like a comb that clips easily over the shaving head. locking the trimmer head is useful for creating straight lines if thats what you desire and the attachment would help you to achieve an even overall length if you aim was to trim and not to shave. so useful features for some people, not features I personally can comment on as I prefer to fully shave, which I can tell you this device did very well, although a little awkward until I got the hang of using a new device! the other plastic attachment is the opti-shave attachment, and personally I found no benefit to it. it is meant to aid you in achieving the correct shaving angles to maintain contact of both cutting surfaces at all times, for optimum performance, but honestly i found it cumbersome and it didnt really improve the shave at all, so i stopped using it. it may be useful for someone who has never used an electric shaver before. after use you can brush any hair off of the trimmers and leave it like that or you can wash it all under the tap if you want to. it all comes a part easily and goes together again without any effort. just remember if you do wash it after use, you'll need to apply vaseline to the cutters inside to keep them in tip top condition afterwards (its all shown in the booklet and very easy). over all I can say that the performance of this shaver is what i would expect. it does give relatively smooth results when compared to other electric shavers, but no electric shaver gets as close as a real razor. its very intuitive to use and apart from the maintenance part i wouldn't have needed the manual at all. it fits nicely in my hand (which are fairly small and weak! lol) and does the job. I dont like the noise or the colour but those thins are minor annoyances . the attachments are of no use to me personally but I see what purpose they have and why they are there. I cant say i would definitely buy this shaver over others i have tried, but i cant say that i wouldnt either. its good, not great. it reliably does the job, albeit noisily, so if thats all you want, no bells and whistles, then maybe this is one for you. Doesn't live up to expectations

I'd had a Braun shaver (an add on as part of an epilator) many years ago and I absolutely loved it, so my expectations were definitely raised going into this. First up the box is quite attractive. Sleek and black; it also makes it very clear what you are going to get inside the box. Upon opening the box everything is well wrapped and separated. The accompanying book makes it clear how to use the shaver, and how to set it up. The set up is very very easy. Simply place the batteries in and attach whichever shaver head is more appropriate for the hair length that you'll be removing. After being told I was receiving the shaver for free, I purposely left my legs unshaved in anticipation. After the quick set up I got around to the defuzzing. First up it's not a wet/dry shaver, which I must admit I found a little disappointing, but not a deal breaker. I suppose it's actually quite handy when you're in a rush actually! I was a little more disappointed in it being a battery only shaver, as I find they run out of juice farily quickly. I started by using the opti-shave attachment, but I wasn't getting a very close shave. So i removed the attachment (as it suggests in the manual for longer hair) and found that it did improve the closeness of the shave a small amount. However I spent around 20 minutes attempting to get a close shave on my leg (yes, just the one leg!), or at least a shave where it actually felt like I'd shaved, and I couldn't. Not to be deterred by one small setback I also decided to try my underarms and bikini line while I was at it. I had similar problems with my underarms as I did with my legs. I just couldn't get a close enough shave and could actually still visible see the stubble. My bikini line was slightly better. I used the shaver alone as well as with the bikini trimmer attachment, and the results felt slightly smoother than my legs had done. I did however find myself with such an annoying amount of stubble that I later went and reshaved all of the areas I'd already been over with a disposable razor! Overall the Braun Lady Shaver LS5100 definitely has some up-points. It's easy to assemble and use. My bad experience won't put me off Braun products as I love their epilators (and the shaver that came with my previous one was amazing), however for me, this shaver just doesn't live up to expectations. OK for legs, not sure for anywhere else!

When my free sample Braun Lady Shaver LS5100 arrived in the post I was quite excited. Traditionally I'm used to a close shave using a razor and gel but was eager to try this. The packaging is nice, great that batteries come in the box so you can use it straight away. Also in the box are two pink attachments and a cleaning brush. The box also shows that you can wash the head under the tap for easy cleaning. The battery compartment is also nicely marked so no putting batteries in and having to change them round until it works! So I tried this on my legs first. It took a few attempts and I had to press quite hard to get a good shave. The head does push in and angle so that going over bony knees was fine and I didn't find it painful. Not as close a shave as a razor and gel but not too bad. Then I tried an underarm, turned the switch under the head from legs to underarms and started, what a mistake! First go and ow!! It really pulled, so I tried again pulling the skin tight and gently moving the Shaver but again it really pinched. Not one for painful underarms I relegated it to the box and used my trusty razor instead. Overall, if you need a quick tidy up or suddenly decide to wear a dress but don't have time to get through the shower and shave with gel, this will do the trick, but don't expect as close a shave. I won't be changing my routine but will be useful to have this incase of hair emergencies ;) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Braun lady shaver

I received this lady shaver free from Braun. I was excited and apprehensive to use this as I only ever wax or use a normal razor. I decided to try this on my bikini area as I've never done this before. It took me a while to actually shave the area, even having trimmed hair first. I found I had to go over one area a couple times to get the hair down really low. Quite time consuming and I wasn't bowled over by the results. I even gave it a whirl for the second time on my underarms and felt that the result was just mediocre. This isn't something that is for me, and personally I think I'll stick with waxing. Does the job

Electric shavers aren't what I would usually use, but when Braun offered to send me one to try I thought I'd give it a go. Straight away I gave shaving my legs a go, and the razor glided lovely over my stubble, and made my legs lovely and smooth. The only down side was that I got a slight rash, I don't know if this was because I'm not used to using these razors or not, other than that I'm more than happy with a quick easy shave and looking forward to trying it out on other areas [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Wow! Love this product.

i decided to take my 2 year old son swimming this morning and thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out my Braun lady Shaver LS5100 for the first time. I was lucky enough to receive this product free from Braun to try out. I was quite excited to try it as I've not used a lady shaver before. I was very impressed that the shaver came with batteries! I love the colour of the shaver, the pink makes it very girlie. It was very easy to use too. It comes with a little cleaning brush which came in very handy after use. As I was going to be wearing a swimming costume, I decided to try it out on my bikini line. I was very happy with the results as the shaver done a much better job than I expected! It done a good enough job for me to not have to go over it with a razor and I was able to wear my costume confidently that same day. I also tried it on my legs, again it got quite close but I do prefer a close shave on the legs so they aren't prickly. Overall the shaver was very quick and easy to use. Perfect product for a busy mother of two. It's a shame I haven't owned one sooner! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

No more nicks!

I was lucky enough to get to try the Braun Lady Shaver LS5100 free from Braun, and I have to say that this might have converted me. Now the weather is getting better, I'm getting my legs out more which means needing to have fuzz free pins! I first tried my Lady Shaver on around ten days worth of growth and found it to be relatively hassle free. I had to go over the same area a couple of times, but this razor doesn't create much friction so it was OK. A little time consuming, but reduces the risk of injury as I'm prone to cutting myself with a normal razor when I'm in a hurry. It's easy to use, and you can easily switch between settings for legs and body. The springy head and guard make it a nice smooth shave over the contours of your legs and underarms, and the shape of the product means that it's easy to hold (I also love the fact it's feminine looking without being PINK!) Following the initial shave, using it every couple of days keeps my legs silky smooth and doesn't irritate as much as using a normal razor in the shower. The battery operation means that it is easily portable and you don't have to worry about packing lots of chargers (great for holidays!). The only downside is that it is a little more time consuming than regular wet shaving, but I didn't cut myself like I usually do, so that's got to be a bonus! Plus I don't get the horrid razor burn which I do with regular saving, so it's comfortable and kinder to my skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
