Excellent service and warranty replacement

I was delighted with the level of service I received from Braun, including the hassle free nature of my warranty replacement. I would choose to buy from Braun over their competitors again for the piece of mind that if the product had any issues, Braun would take care of it. Good product, great service. Thanks

Yes, I recommend this product !

A great trimmer for even the most meticulously maintained beard

I recently received a Braun BT5050 beard trimmer for free in exchange for an honest review, the timing of which was perfect as my old trimmer was beginning to get a little long in the tooth, I generally trim rather than shave as I prefer to keep some stubble to save me the from the inevitable ribbing that would commence following being asked for ID down the pub.On first impression the packaging although basic looks pretty slick, the artwork uses a nice electric blue accent colour, a design cue that continues throughout the product serving to highlight any buttons or switches, the blue stands out nicely from the matte black background drawing attention to the trimmers main selling point the precision dial.Included in the box with the BT5050 is the precision comb with precision dial, a second comb for longer beards, the power/charging cable, a cleaning brush, travel pouch and lastly a small bottle of oil.Looking at the unit itself the front of the sleek black casing is only interrupted by some minimal silver branding along with a small LED charging indicator which also doubles as a low battery warning, on the back is a solitary power button accented in the signature electric blue. The BT5050 appears to be rather well built and has enough weight to it to suggest quality without being too heavy, there is also a soft rubberised texture to the back half helping to prevent it becoming slippery when used with wet or soapy hands. The trimmer itself feels very ergonomic with a nice curve which is not only comfortable in hand, but also ensures the blades are held at the correct angle. Slotting the precision comb onto the trimmer it locks into place with a reassuring "click"; at this point you can use the precision dial to select one of twenty length settings ranging from 1-10mm in half-millimeter increment;, your desired setting can then be locked in place to prevent any accidental changes either during or between uses. In contrast to this the long beard comb lacks the precision dial opting instead for far less gadgetry and a manual slider which is initiated by a simple button press, and disappointingly provides much less versatility with only five length settings between 10 and 20mm.In use the BT5050 is really rather quiet especially in comparison to my old trimmer and the blades made pretty light work of my rather coarse facial hair with no pulling or tugging which was surprising as my usual stubble was fast approaching full beard status at this point. After use you can either give the blades a quick clean with the included brush or alternatively, as the unit is fully washable, you can rinse under warm running water and leave to dry. On an 8 hour charge the dual nickel-metal hydride batteries will last around 50 minutes which even if used daily should last a full seven days between charges. The charging chord itself is of a coiled bungee style, akin to that of an old telephone which terminates at a 2-pin plug Braun has dubbed the SmartPlug; basically the SmartPlug allows you to take your trimmer abroad with you and not have to worry about the differing voltages of foreign power outlets which is fantastic news for those that travel regularly. The only problem with this is that if you aren't lucky enough to have a shaving socket in your bathroom at home, you will need a 3-pin adaptor to enable you to charge the trimmer using a standard UK socket, (no doubt you will probably have one or more of these languishing at the back of some rarely used draw), but it's something that I think is worth pointing out.Overall I've been very pleased with the Braun BT5050 and will be continuing to use it in place of my current beard trimmer. Great little trimmer

When I received the trimmer free from braun I was very impressed with the build quality and it felt nice to hold. After a few weeks of using the trimmer I found it to work well but with a few difficulties. As a trimmer for beards it was OK. You could trim your beard but I couldn't get the fine close parts with it and had to use a razor anyway. I did use it to have a full shave and take my beard off. The trimmer did OK but kept getting stuck so you have to cut slowly. This was also the case for cutting hair as it states it should be able to do and it can but it does stick so you have to go slowly and resources over areas more times.Overall the trimmer is good. Once you get the hang of how to use it [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

2nd review after trialling a few weeks

So this is my 2nd review after having the beard trimmer a while (as the title suggests). I like to give a honest review so I try and find flaws in items. I have to say I can't find one with this. If I was really nit picking I would say a UK plug or adapter would be nice, but that's it. I'm still on the first battery charge and it's going strong. So easy to clean and delivers precision trimming from full beard down to stubble. Love it, so glad I jumped on this campaign. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Braun BT5050 - Solid trimmer

The Braun BT5050 is a hair and beard trimmer designed for those who want to style and define their facial hair. The box comes with the trimmer, two combs to set length (0 -5mm and 6-10mm), a shaving plug, travel bag and oil/brush to keep the shaver in working order.I have a full beard so use a beard trimmer once a week or so just to keep things tidy. My current trimmer only has gradients of 2mm for the length so 2, 4, 6mm etc. I'm pleased to say the Braun is even better and goes up in 0.5mm gradients! It doesn't have all the extra trimming tools I've had on other trimmers, for example a nose/ear trimmer or a neck trimmer. For a solid beard trimmer though it is very good and it compares really well to other trimmers I've tried.Pros - travel bag, 0.5mm gradients, fully waterproof.Cons - no extra trimming tools [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Still the Best Shave

Here goes, my second review of this almighty trimmer. I can only echo my first review of this product. I have not tried every setting possible to figure out which best suits my look. I found that using level 3 give me the best appearance and my wife agrees :). I love the fact that this is waterproof as all of my other trimmers have not been, and it is annoying trying to clean it after each use, not to mention cleaning the hairs from the floor. Another good suggestion is to remove the head and turn the trimmer upside down to get right in underneath the nose. I give this product 5 out of 5 last time, this time it's increased to 5+. Happy chappy :) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

That time again!!

As I have said before, the Braun BT5050 is amazing! It came to that time again when I needed to trim my beard to maintain a clean and professional appearance at work and at home. So I got the Braun BT5050, which I received FREE as I am a Bzz agent, ready and have to say that it was so simple and just a pleasure to use. Like before it easily trimmed my beard with it precision trimmer and adjustable settings. I will not use anything else other than this product in the future. The Braun BT5050 allows me to keep that clean and professional look permanently with an insanely low cut of 0.5mm.The quality remains in the accessories here too with a strong and well built feel that makes me happy to say this is a quality long lasting product. The Braun BT5050 is light weight, good size for maneuverability and the grip is very comfortable.Overall I'm very impressed and pleased with the Braun BT5050 and have been recommending the product to family and friends. Braun have been leaders in male grooming products/market for a while now and in my opinion this is another great product they have produced and also great value for money. An excellent beard trimmer that's great for at home and travelling and isn't going to break the bank! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Manscaping made eay

First off, I have to start this review of the Braun BT5050 beard trimmer by disclosing that I was fortunate enough to receive this beard trimmer totally free in order to road test and then report back. I have had the Braun BT5050 for a few days now, and I have had the chance to put it through its paces, so here’s my review………The Braun BT5050 is a small, sleek and modern looking beard trimmer made out of black plastic. It does look the part, and is a trimmer that deserves to be left on show and not tucked away in the bathroom cupboard. It’s one thing looking the part, but is the Braun BT5050 all show and no go? After taking this beard trimmer for a bit of a test run here’s my experience of the product. The first thing I noticed about the Braun BT5050 was how weighty it is for its size. Despite being a small and sleek tool it is quite heavy, and it feels well-made and sturdy. The BT5050 is ergonomically designed and feels comfortable in the hand, and this also applies during use. Even though the BT5050 feels heavy it is balanced and glides in the direction you push it.Compared to my current beard trimmer the BT5050 is far quicker in trimming my facial hair. I know my current beard trimmer is now a few years old and has had a bit of use, but even when I first started using my current beard trimmer it didn’t cut through my facial hair like the BT5050 does. I can only conclude the BT5050 has sharp blades that are up to the job.I have been cursed with curly facial hair and I do have to be a bit careful with beard trimers not to push too fast otherwise I get a lot of painful tugging. When I use the BT5050 I can push the trimmer as fast as I like through my beard (and side burns) and it effortlessly trims with no tugging or pulling at all, which is impressive.Even though the BT5050 only has 2 attachments it actually has 25 length settings, which is very impressive. The precision attachment covers lengths of 1mm – 10mm in 0.5mm increments and the other attachment covers 10mm – 20mm in 2mm increments. I do have to question the 0.5mm increments because I really don’t think that level of accuracy is needed, but it is nice to have and also a good selling point.Like the beard trimmer itself the attachments are strong and sturdy. Adjusting the cutting length is a simple operation and there is a nice sounding “click” between the length settings. Once the beard trimmer is set to the desired trimming length it stays in situ and doesn’t slip to another cutting length unless you actually change it yourself. There is nothing worse than trimming facial hair and the attachment to fall off half way through resulting in having to shave everything the shorter length and having to re-grow it again. This will not happen using the BT5050.My current beard trimmer has 8 attachments and 9 cutting lengths, which means at any one time I have 7 attachments I have to keep neat and tidy, and not lose. Needless to say the more attachments, the more clutter the more whinging from the wife. The fact that the BT5050 only has 2 attachments is awesome, and since I will only ever use the precision attachment (I don’t like to have long facial hair) this means I never have any spare attachments laying around, and also a happy wife. It’s a win-win situation. The BT5050 is a fully sealed unit which means you can clean it directly under the tap. This is useful for removing greasy hand prints and other bathroom nasties (splodges of tooth paste, hair gel and the like) quickly. Whilst I clean the beard trimmer under the tap I make sure the water goes nowhere near the blades since I don’t want them to rust up.The BT5050 did not come with a stand or docking station on which to leave the trimmer and the spare attachment when not in use. I think that docking stations are essential for beard trimmers as they keep everything neatly organised in one place, so it is a shame the BT5050 was not supplied with one. The BT5050 did have a thin bag included, however it is very thin, looks cheap and nasty (and actually feels it too) and is not very protective. The bag does keep everything together in one place, however that is all it does do. I don’t think the carry bag is up to the job so I have binned that and have got a more protective bag in which I store (and transport as necessary) my BT5050. I would prefer to have a docking station though. The BT5050’s charging cable has a two prong electric shaver plug at the end, which I found most annoying. I don’t have this socket in my bathroom, and since there is no standard 3 pin plug adaptor supplied I had to go and buy an adaptor to charge the BT5050 for first use. I know I received the BT5050 free of charge however if I did buy it, and then had to buy a standard plug adaptor to charge it I would be most annoyed. Does anyone actually have shaver sockets in their bathroom? No one I know does. Why can’t Braun include a 3 pin plug adaptor with the beard trimmer? The lack of docking station and 3 pin plug adaptor are the only criticisms I can think of (and trust me on this I have been thinking for quite a while now) about the BT5050.Overall the Braun BT5050 is an excellent beard trimmer, and it is definitely a product I would recommend. It is small, it is comfortable to use, it is sharp and easily glides through facial hair trimming as it goes, it is sturdy and well made, and it looks the part too.So would I part with my hard earned cash to buy one? Considering it is cheaper than my current beard trimmer (which I did actually buy with money from my own pocket) I would spend my money on the BT5050 if I was in the market to buy a beard trimmer. It really is a quality bit of kit that makes manscaping easy and pain free. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great for a daily beard trimm!

I received the BT5050 beard trimmer recently for free from Braun and I have to say I have been pretty impressed. The trimmer comes part charged so you can use it immediately which is always a bonus as there is nothing worse than having to charge something for hours when you want to see what it can do. The trimmer is easy to use with it's simple on/off button. In the box you will find two attachments: one does anything from 1mm up to whatever stubble length you want, the other would do longer beards. The instructions aren't that clear and I didn't bother much with them beyond the basics. The usual vague diagrams with words on separate pages. There is also a small oil bottle, basic storage bag, and cleaning brush supplied. The trimmer comes with a 2-pin wall socket adapter which is perfect for travelling.I used it to create some designer stubble and was quite satisfied with the result. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who's looking for a simple but effective beard trimmer at a reasonable price. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

First Impressions: Good but not great

I received the BT5050from Braun to review and was dead excited for it to arrive after having good experience of Braun products in the past.First impressions were good - although a little light the shaver felt chunky and well made and looked the business - I really liked the dial mechanism for changing the cutting blade - previous razors I've had have always had removable height clip-ons which have invariably broken over time.I had a fairly long beard and usually trim once a week. Razor charged it was time to test it out.The razor failed the first test as on shaving my neck on the no1 setting it cut my mole, this has never happened with a razor before and was a bit of a shock. I was disappointed as it means the new product could never fully replace my old one (which doesn't cut the mole).Neck done though I moved on to my face - I was initially unsure what height to use so went with no10 the longest - it did the job ok, I did feel that it took quite a few runs to get all of the hair trimmed - at first it felt a bit choppy. However I was pleased with the end result. What did pleasantly surprise me was that despite the blades looking pretty formidable (and after the mole incident) without any guard on it did a gentle job when used to shape my cheekbones and trimming my moustache around my lips.Overall I thought the razor did a good job, it does feel a bit cheap and underpowered but I will rate it 3/5 as it was ok. I will reserve full judgement until I have used it a few more times though. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
