Upon receiving my Braun body groomer for free from Braun, I was straight away impressed with the overall package and quality of the attachments included. The trimmer heads are made well, the inclusion of a case/holder for the shower was welcomed. The groomer itself feels really expensive, it has a good weight to it and doesn't feel like it would damage easily. The charger/dock included does take a while to charge but I think most trimmers/groomers I have used before seem to take about the same. The battery life is very good, I have used it several times and still not had to recharge, so I would say the initial long charge it worth the overall battery life. The groomer itself in use is very good, it offers a smooth trim on whichever setting you choose. I didn't have issues with catching/snagging as some trimmers have. My only complaint was the razor on the back, whilst I feel this is a great idea and like having the product built all in one. I did find at times it could move or catch when I was using the grooming part, so i often found myself removing the razor head when grooming and adding it for shaving only.Overall this is a great product, ideal for every day use and perfect for travelling as means you only have to take one product, not a trimmer, razor etc. I would thoroughly recommend this product, it is well weighted, easy to use and feels really expensive in the hand. Slight issue with the razor head at times but i think if you remove that during grooming its worth having it all built in. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I'll begin with the disclosure that I was sent the Body Groomer for free in exchange for an honest review of the product. So, with the boring bit done, what's it like?Well, it is a slightly odd looking creature with the razor blade piggy-backing on the main unit however it is well constructed and doesn't feel like it's going to break apart any time soon. The entire device is totally sealed to allow it to be used in both the shower and the bath though I can't really recommend using it in the bath unless you enjoy bathing with your own hair trimmings. It also comes with a little charging stand that doesn't take up much space. Quick note: unless you have a 2 pin bathroom plug, you'll need to grab an adapter since there's no 3 pin plug included.Build quality, which I briefly touched on, is excellent. The Body Groomer itself and the charge stand feel good an sturdy and whilst I haven't had t long enough to confirm, I suspect this will still be working in several years time.On the usage front it is very easy to use. You clip on one of the 3 attachments onto the trimmer to set the length and away you go. This is handy for keep hair to a certain length, whether it's a bit of gardening or just to keep facial hair at a tidy length, the 3 lengths offered have most bases covered.Where the razor comes in. I'm not an overly hairy chap so couldn't give the razor a test in it's natural working conditions so I thought I'd give it a go on my leg. So, for all the super keen cyclists who want to remove all leg hair, I can confirm that the body groomer will do an excellent job (I've attached a picture of my leg minus a small strip of hair). To summarise. The Body Groomer is a great product, it's downfalls come in from two problems. The first is the missing 3 pin plug or at least, adapter. The second is that while it is water proof, it can get clogged up quite easily when wet, so I would recommend using this product dry, which comes with it's own issues. Otherwise, it is a study product that works well wit only a few drawback. I've have given it 4 out of 5 stars but in reality that is only because I couldn't have given it 4.5 out of 5 which is really where it sits. And as a final unexpected bonus. The trimmer is incredible at removing knots from long haired cats. The buzzing sound is nice a quite, also low in pitch and doesn't scare them, plus it's gentle enough that they don't mind. You just need to be sure the razor blade has been removed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
First thing i wanted to know before i accepted the campaing is how would this go differently to my usual shave, i'm very wary when shaving normally I just use a razor if I ever shave.. As soon as I got my free Braun Body Groomer I decided it was time for a change, tried the different sizes and finally dicided to go for just stubble so off it came, it was very easy to use, the only problem is it needs a storage box rather then a bag to keep it in :/, all in all i recomend this to anyone looking for a new groomer, my family all think it's a big change as i normally have a big beard, they (the men) were all wondering where they could get one and how much does one cost. I got this free to test and review the product, so at the time I didn't know the price, but for this review I did a bit of snooping and found out the price, and I must say I wouldn't pay that kind of price for it. I would certainly need to consider the price before I would buy it.That being said, the quality is excellent. I have a few tattoos, and I didn't plan very far ahead as to the placing of them. So the tattooist shaved the hair, did her thing, but then of course after a while, the hair grows back, and it looses some of it's style. So the Braun Body Groomer makes my tattoos look like new again. I've tried shaving my tattoos with my beard trimmer and it's just too harsh on the skin on my arms etc.I haven't tried some of the features, like the charge times. It says a 14 hour charge can shave for 50 minutes - it doesn't take me 50 minutes to shave. I did however test the water proof feature, and it is, but since you hair will tend to mat when it's wet, it doesn't shave as well as when it's dry. The styling combs kind of seem a bit exsesive. It's not like a beard, as I can't really see any use for different length body hair - surely you either want the hair or you don't. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
The groomer cuts body hair OK, but there are better products out there, including from Braun. It does not cope well with coarser hairs, nor does it cut as close as rival products. It is just too small really, it doesn't feel powerful to use. It's futuristic charging port is great for the bathroom, as you don't need to plug a cable directly into the groomer itself.I did not try it on my facial hair, only body hair. I've gone through so many face and body groomers and there's few I actually like. So when Braun offered to send me their latest product for free I was sceptical but hopeful. The first thing I noticed is the weight and build quality, which overall is good and feels like a quality product. When using the device it is noticeable how small the cutting teeth are, which is a good thing when it comes to using it for getting the closest shave possible for unwanted body hair. Basically, on other devices the teeth cause a scratching sensation when you're using it without the guard, but because the Braun's teeth are smaller you don't get the same scratching. There's a Gillette razor on the back. It's like it has tagged along for the ride. I haven't used that yet, but I can see how it'll be useful for detail work around my stubble beard. Also, will be handy for the odd time I need to have a full clean wet shave for an interview or something. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
When I signed up to receive this I didn't actually pay much attention to what it was, I just saw that it was free from Braun so thought "Why not?".I must say I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. I was expecting an alternative to Gillette's razors, perhaps a different handle to use with Gillette's blades, so to receive an electric body groomer that incorporates Gillette's blades was awesome and much needed as my current one is about 10 years old and doesn't work unless it's plugged in.So on to the performance. At first I used the trimmer and it seemed fine although I noticed it kept catching my hair which was irritating but then I realised it was the Gillette blade that was catching my hair and not the trimmer blade. I probably should have removed it first. So after I removed it the trimmer worked well. I tried the long comb first and it wasn't doing much, so I switched to the medium and I was very surprised at the difference in length between "medium" and long. Medium to me was more like a short cut. I would much rather something in-between medium and long.I next used the Gillette razor. Now it has been a very long time since I used any Gillette products. I switched to traditional double edged blades long ago. The performance of Gillette's products was never an issue but their price was. I don't find them good value for money.I however did use the Gillette razor next and whilst the finish was very good the loose and plastic feel of Gillette's blades felt very cheap ironically. I felt like if I applied too much force something would break. This was most likely due to me having used a heavy metal handle for many years now.In conclusion the Braun trimmer will replace mine as I really do like it and need it, however I still would not be tempted back to Gillette's disposable blades even though I admit the performance was just as good as my double edged razor. If I had bought this just for the trimmer I would have been more than satisfied. So I've just received my Braun Body Groomer to trial for free from Braun and I've been pleasantly surprised. As I already own a body groomer, and have had others in the past I rather expected a cheep looking flimsy shave/trimmer.Opening the box, the trimmer seems very strong and durable I don't feel like I'm going to break it if it drops or I bash it around when traveling. It's also something I am happy to keep out in its neat little charing dock. It looks smart, not one I need to hide away..It is the first time I have seen a razor attached directly to a body groomer and I'm really impressed, not only does it mean that I don't have multiple grooming bits to keep tidy it also allows to both trim and shave at the same time (although not the face!) which again is something I've never seen before. Ideal for someone with a very hairy chest like myself!!, it's very time consuming to trim first then get the razor out, this means two in one!! I've tested this function out and it worked very well, I won't post a picture of that however to save the eyes of the reader! So what's the best and worst?Best is the multifunction of this shaver, it's good, compact and all in one. It's clearly has some finer touches added. All the attachments are named, usually the plastic attachments all look very similar and you can't tell what each is designed for without getting the booklet out... Let's be honest who keeps those. The attachment on this razor and trimmer all have their use engraved onto each. There is a holder attachment for the shower, a long hair trimmer attachment, a medium and a personal/sensitive. I have tried both the holder and long hair attachment along with no attachment at all with the razor and trimmer for a clean smooth shave, both were excellent. I've been very impressed. Although it's combined, it's not too heavy. Fits well into my hand, and it not difficult to just shave with the razor, I must admit I was concerned it might feel a bit odd.The charging unit is very small which is great. My only complaint is that it requires a shaving plug which I don't have so I will need to get an attachment to charge. Not a problem for most however other trimmers I have had in the past have had a standard plug option to allow changing. This is really not a big problem as I do love the little thing! What do I like most, I don't need a razor and trimmer, all in one and looks really smart. It's going to travel well, I do travel for work and this should save some space (oh it's got a little travel bag) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I received this product free from Braun to give it a try. To my knowledge, it's the first of its type I've seen combining a trimmer and razor into one product. I really like the ability to switch between either independently or use them in a combined function. The product feels well made and the heads are a solid perspex style plastic which is a nice touch also. It sits in a great little dock, really tidily and even comes with two Gillette Blades free!Having tried the product, it's a really smooth trim or shave or indeed a combishave, as the two combined are called. I like the fact the product is quiet and can even be used in the shower or bath. Absolutely love it - grab one now! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Just as Steve Jobs took to the stage to announce they'd combined the features of an iPod, a phone, and a web browser â all in one magical device â Braun aims to take the features of a world class shaver with an electric trimmer, making an all purpose body grooming device. The result is a curious hybrid, but I'm not sure it delivers on the promise.(I received a Body Grooomer for free from Braun in exchange for an honest review)It does look a bit weird, truth be told. The razor either retracts fully to just use the trimmer, or extends fully be used alone without the trimmer; or can be used in a hybrid mode where both the trimmer and razor are active. For the most part, this works well, combining the act of shaving somewhere with heavy growth into a few strokes, as opposed to the usual routine of first trimming, then shaving. You'll still need to use shaving foam though, and rinse the head off, so this is best done in the shower. I almost expect them to build a shaving foam dispenser attachment into the next model. And a self cleaning jet of water mechanism. It takes a little while to get used to the Braun Body Groomer as there's a specific angle you need to hold it at - 90° to your body, rather than almost parallel as you might with just a trimmer. We first tried the Body Groomer as just a traditional trimmer to shave my head - without the shaving head extended - and after figuring out that you couldn't hold it like a standard trimmer, it seemed to work fine. Nothing groundbreaking but it got the job done. You still need to go over the same area a few times to catch everything, so it's no better than a regular trimmer for doing heads.Next I tried shaving my arms and chest in the dual function mode â that's with both the trimmer and the shaving head extended â and this was more successful, but I'm not sure how much value is added by the combined feature set. I think I could get just as good of a shave with just a sharp razor.I don't have a beard, so it could be that the product's true strength lies with beard trimming. Also in the package are a variety of trimmer attachments to for selecting closeness of shave, and a dual purpose case which can either cover the electric head completely for use in the shower, or goes on the other side to just hang the device up somewhere. The utility of the Body Groomer is hampered like most of these multi-blade shaving products by the need to buy expensive new blades every so often. I gave up using multi-blade razors and switched to a single bladed safety razor many years ago, and haven't looked back since. The Body Groomer hasn't convinced me to switch back.So would the Braun Body Groomer completely replace your traditional shaving and grooming routine? It might, but not for me. The utility or time saved from having the two features combined just doesn't add as much value as I'd hoped it might. It's pretty much what you'd expect if you duct-taped a razor blade to a trimmer.
