FAQs

Braun Series 7 FAQs

What's the difference between foil and rotary shavers?
Rotary shavers are designed to work with cyclical movements while Braun foil shavers are designed to work with efficient sideways movements on the skin giving perfect control and precision. The foils protect the skin from irritation and are specifically designed to deliver the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun.

Why would I need a cleaning center when I can clean my Series 7 shaver under water?
Our tests show that cleaning your shaver with a Clean & Charge Station is 10 times more hygienic than cleaning it under the tap. On top it's more convenient, i.e. at the touch of a button your shaver is cleaned, charged, lubricated and dried automatically.

I already have a cleaning center from my previous Braun shaver (Pulsonic or Synchro). Can I use it with the new Series 7 shaver?
No, the Series 7 cleaning center is the ultimate model from the Braun Clean & Charge line and can't be used with previous models. The latest cleaning center provides you with the best technology available in a cleaning center.

How often do I need to exchange the cleaning center refill cartridge?
If you clean your shaver with the cleaning center twice a week, you will only need to replace the refill cartridge every 2 to 3 months to experience a shaver like new, every day. The save & subscribe option from Amazon allows you to subscribe for a regular home delivery and at the same time save 10% on the price of the Clean & Charge refill. You don't have to think about it and always have a Clean & Charge refill available when you need it.

Do you have any recommendation on how to shave with an electric foil shaver?
We recommend that you shave before you take a shower. After a few days without shaving, for example during the weekend, you should trim your stubble before you shave. Stretch the skin and shave against the direction of beard growth. Hold the shaver at a right angle (90°) to your skin. Keep the pressure even to achieve the most thorough and comfortable shave from Braun.

How often do I need to change the shaver head?
We recommend replacing all cutter parts every 18 months. We included a replacement part indicator in the display to ensure you know when to exchange the cutter parts, in order for your shaver to always stay at 100% performance.

Does the battery have a memory effect as we know it from cell phone or laptops?
No, the Series 7 shavers use a Li-ion battery which has no memory effect. You can recharge it whenever you want and it has a low self-discharge rate (vs. NiMh batteries). Li-Ion batteries are the most powerful and long-lasting batteries available for Braun shavers.

Do the Braun Series 7 shavers have a warranty? How long is it?
All Braun shavers come with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty.

Very good, but does it beat a wet shave?

When i first started shaving about ten years ago i used quite a poor quality electric shaver, which did the job but never felt very smooth or shaved as well as other electric shavers on the market. For the last six years i have been having a wet shave and really appreciating the closeness of the shave. However, they have their downsides by constantly having to replace the razors and i get the best shave in the shower, which means my shower time isn't very quick!I've been trialling the Braun 7 Series now for two weeks and i have to say it does seem a very premium product and lightyears distance away from the poor quality electric shaver i used all those years ago. The Braun 7 Series fits nicely in my hand and gets to work very efficiently on stubble and leaves my face feeling smooth and not a bit irritated. I don't have any red marks or stubble rash and the different closeness settings do make a difference when shaving around the chin and on my neck. The trimmer also works very well and has helped me to keep my sideburns in check. I fully charged the shaver when it arrived and it lasted me 6 decent shaves before needing charging again. On to the accessories now which includes a snazzy looking cleaning dock. Now for me, this took a while to work properly as every time i started it it would cut off quite quickly and i wasn't sure if it was a problem with my shaver adaptop (as the Braun only comes with a European 2-pin plug) or a problem with the power supply from the cleaning dock. On the times that it has worked it has cleaned it quite well making it smooth and smell a bit lemony. Overall i give this product 4/5 as the quality of the shave is very good but the cleaning dock hasn't worked as well for me as it should do.I am now using this product over my Giletter Razor and plan to continue doing so! So far the best electric shaver I have used

So far the best electric shaver I have ever used. I have tried electric shaving before, and wasn't impressed, but this I will stick with. The Braun Series 7 shaver itself is a little bulky at first, but easy to get used to. It is more agile that it appears and so far no nicks or catches. I was surprised at the bulkiness of the stand too, which needs to be close to a power source for charging and cleaning, but this is outweighed by the positive of having it regularly cleaned with no fuss - a great innovation! I am especially looking forward to using this on my next travels - no more need for packing shaving foam and blades in my hand luggage as the nifty travel case this comes with will be perfect for short trips away. Best by far, wet or dry

Over the years I have purchased a number of electric shavers only to decide if didn't like having my face ripped off in the process of shaving as they felt more like epilators pulling each hair one by one. I reverted to a manual shaver "one with a certain number of blades"Getting hold of this Braun has definitely meant shaving has become less of a chore. I often went to work looking like a bit of a vagabond, rough and ready to say the least. The handy to carry shaver in its wallet is easy to transport, and even just quick to shave before I leave for work in the morning. The shaver provides a comfortable shave, close cut with adjustable speed settings for those all more sensitive areas. It has an inlet to charge on the razor itself or can be charged easily on the refresh unit. Battery life is displayed on the bottom of the unit along with the hygiene score which highlights when the unit needs to be refreshed. I continued to use the unit until it was hygiene "empty" the shaver easily sits in the refresh/charging unit and the process of cleaning takes around 10 minutes for a full clean. All in all a fantastic product, so happy to have it in my possession. Once again braun have managed to hit the nail on the head. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great close shave

I've tried electric shavers in the past but always had problems with razor burn around my neck. As such I was slightly apprehensive about trying out this shaver. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This shaver has five shaving mode from sensitive to turbo. I was left with no razor burn or uncomfortable feeling when using the sensitive mode.It feels gentle on the skin and seems to effortlessly get a close smooth shave first time. There's no need to keep going back and forth over the same area. It can also be used in the wet which I prefer as it feels even smoother. With previous electric shavers I've always found they struggled to get a close finish where the contours of the face change. However, this isn't the case with the Braun 7898. The great design of the head means there were no areas left with that annoying stubbly feeling. With it being completely waterproof it's easy to keep clean by simply rinsing under running water and the clean and charge station automatically lubricates it. This is a fantastic feature especially if you shave daily like I do. And it only takes one hour to fully re-charge too.If you shave regularly as I do then this shaver is definitely worth the investment. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. A great electric shaver

I've used the razor a few times now and I really like it. It gets a nice close shave and was really quick as well. I didn't have to go over the same area too many times which I have found with other electric shavers. I like the fact the razor head moved with the shape of my face and I could increase or reduce the intensity to my suiting. Another really good feature is the was function. It meant the razor felt really nice a clean and new every time it's washed. All in all a really good razor. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great shaver with one slight disappointment

The first thing I noticed about the Braun Series 7 Shaver was how smart it looks - just how it appears on the box. If you're looking for a good-looking piece of kit then look no further. The shaver itself works very well as I'll go on to explain. I was also happy to learn it is bundled with a Clean&Charge Station (more on this later), a travel case and a cleaning brush. 'Almost' everything you need...According to the packaging, Braun‘s Sonic technology reads and adapts to your beard - I found this to be pretty accurate and was impressed. I had a fair bit of stubble when I first used it and it was certainly the best shave I'd have with an electric shaver. Ordinarily I'd have to trim it with a beard trimmer first or simply wet shave. The quality in the Series 7 must be that the shaver senses the density of the beard and provides extra power where needed - I'd have to agree with that. The Clean&Charge station is a nice piece of kit. With the touch of a button, it hygienically cleans and lubricates your shaver - the manual almost makes this sound difficult but it really is very easy to use and such a good idea to include it in the charging station. I'm not aware of any other shaver that has this functionality, and I guess this is certainly one of the reasons why the Series 7 is a premium product. So why 'almost everything you need'? Well, if I had one criticism it's the fact that the shaver does not come with a 3-point plug (or USB plug). Surely it can't be much to ask of a premium product - perhaps the USB would be better as it was make it easier to transport the shaver and could be used abroad without an adaptor. Of course it does have a two-point plug that can be used in sockets suitable for shavers but this isn't suitable if you don't have one in your bathroom. I had to buy a separate adaptor and even then it wasn't a perfect fit, though did charge the shaver.Overall I'd recommend this product for those who want an electric shaver - I don't think there are many better out there. It's smooth and comfortable on short and even slightly longer stubble, the Clean&Charge Station is a great bonus. Just be aware that you might also need to buy a separate plug adaptor. Best Shaver

I wanted to know how different is it from the other electric shavers in the market. I used philps shaver , it was good but this particular shaver is the best shaver I have ever used. Quite smooth, no burning sensation. Flexible handle makes it so easy to use. Quick charge time and battery level indicator is very good. The best thing is hygiene cleaning and the indicator. Works best with shaving gel rather than dry. Very easy to clean and the lock option to hold the head in place to shave under the nose. All in all a good quality product for guys who wants a clean shave with less discomfort. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great product

The Braun razor is a great product really quick and easy to use, with a great battery life on it not having to charge after every use which not found with other electric shavers, the trimmer feature not the best as its in and awkward place as it flips out the handle and which when doing the side burns puts the razor right near hair. The cleaning base can be abit noisey when cleaning but it's quick cleaning and easy to use press of a button and it's going. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Good, but style over substance

The first impression is of heft and weight - this feels, looks and handles like a well built piece of machinery. But larger still is the docking and cleaning station - it has quite a big footprint and needs to be near a plug socket, so if you have a small (or, to be honest, a normal size but cluttered) bathroom, you may struggle to find somewhere to put the cleaning station. Obviously you could put it in a different room - but then you lose what is clearly meant to be one of the key selling points of this shaver - the ease and time-saving that comes from its self-cleaning function. And that self-cleaning function is really very clever. You put the shaver into the docking station (which starts it charging) and it then tells you how dirty it is and cleans itself. It somehow reminded me of one of those pod coffee machines - totally cool, clearly better than normal coffee, but something which I could live without if need be! I was prepared to moan about the cost of the cleaning fluid, but then had a look at how much these are (each apparently lasts around a month according to the instructions) and they're actually quite reasonable. Alongside the space the cleaning unit takes up, another negative was the fact that it had a standard "shaver's" plug with 2-pins, so if you can't fit it in the bathroom you'll need an adaptor. And, less seriously, the beautiful aesthetic is ruined by the fact that the shaver deliberately sits at a slight angle in the cradle. If you don't want to use the charger/cleaner, you can plug the shaver straight into a cord and charge it from the plug. You can then clean it yourself too, but that would be a waste of an expensive cleaner. As to the important bit, the shave: it's good - definitely better than my old electric shaver. I had to press harder than I am used to, because it is so good at following the curve of my face compared to the one I've used before there were a few times my soft grip meant it went over hairs and not through them. There were no nicks, a spot was left intact, and I had no more burn than from using a normal wet shave razor. But I also had a lot more stubble left behind - around the ears in particular, where it didn't pick up where I would have sideburns if I grew my hair. To be fair, I know this is a problem area for all electric razors. My jawbone wasn't great either, and I didn't get that "clean shave" feel on a lot my face. I tried it on different speed settings with no discernible impact between fast and slow.It has a very nice travel case, so is definitely going to come on weekends and overnights away. But day to day use? I'm not entirely sold.In conclusion - it's a very solid product, but with a very solid price. It is perfect for someone who likes electric razors and gadgets, doesn't have time to muck around cleaning his razor but has the space in the bathroom for the charging station. If this doesn't describe you, well then it is still a very good product - but you may be paying for a cool and trendy feature that you can't get the most out of. Braun Series 7

Where do I start? Well, firstly the shaver itself looks fairly attractive and is well packaged. I gave it a full charge - it was easy to set up and charge. I then used it for the first time to shave my 2 day old stubble. It felt comfortable on my skin however it did feel as if it was pulling the hairs on some parts of my face rather than cutting the hairs. It shaved close but was no different to my usual rotary shaver. It struggled to get some of the hairs on my neck which grow in different directions. I like the cut with the trimming blade and this seemed more precise than other brands - the blade was wider. So after my shave I had to empty the shaver and rinse it. Trying to release the guard was a bit fiddly and I was a little shocked at how little hard was in the shaver. This made me question the quality of the shave, or the fact that it was not collecting the hairs at all. It has a clean and charge station which requires a lubricant - I am not sure if this is more of a gimmick and the price of these would soon add up as you have to keep replacing them. This coupled with the price of the shaver would probably put me off buying this. Overall I thought the shave was fairly good, I liked the feel of the shaver and it appeared to shave closely. I am not sure that I would ditch my usual brand for this one though but it was a good contender. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
