Design... look and feel

I think that this shaver is very well designed. I have been cutting my own hair first over 4 years now and added to my bag of tools this shaver is right up there in terms of comfortability to use. It sits in the hand nicely and the rubberized texture makes it easy to hold and control. I wouldn't say that I'm a super fan of the colour of the shaver but that is a very insignificant aspect to me. If I was to mange a suggestion I would say you maybe allow for a wider range of colour options. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Not award winning for me, but a great show!

So here it is, one of the worlds best electric shavers. Free! Everyone loves free, but there's a lot of convincing to do as for the last 20 years I have used a cut throat razor as my shaving tool of choice. I have tried electric shavers in the past and didn't like how it made my skin feel, but this is a well built shaver that deserves a fair try.My first try is from the picture to this review. It's several days of growth and sadly I was expecting to be clean shaved. It's half shaved in the picture and it did my cheeks well, although trying to precisely do the sideburns was fairly tricky to get a good edge. I really struggled with under the jawline and it left patches of hair that just wouldn't cut. Sadly this meant I had to re-shave with my razor, so didn't start well.My second attempt was with less growth, maybe 3-4 days and it was a noticeable improvement, but not perfect. It did leave me having to shave manually again, much to my annoyance. I left it for 3-4 days a few more times and even tried taking it into the shower.Note: at this point I must point out that this was weird, to wet shave. I just don't get it, and it's much more of a pain to clean the foil and razor after a wet shave. I just don't get this as a selling point! So, at this point we are halfway into the thirty day trial. So far, disappointing, especially for the RRP of this device. But, moving on....For the next week I shave every other day, and I must admit I'm happy with the result. There's no noticeable stray hairs it can't cut and certainly seems to prefer this. Ok so it doesn't feel as smooth as it could be but the end result was a very quick and easy shave, without cuts. For the last half a week I've been shaving daily. I seem to have fairly sensitive skin as it left my neck feeling rashy, and needing moisuriser. This is not something I need with a wet shave, but for this trial it was worth doing.Would I personally buy this shaver? No. I don't shave daily and tend to leave it several days at a time. For that reason it's not one for me. If I shaved daily then yes I would certainly consider it, the wide head makes light work of the job and certainly gave a nice feel when shaving regularly.Pro's:Quick and easyReally long battery life between charges (I haven't charged it all month)Large head Cons:Poor at fine detail trimmingThumb naturally rests on one of the buttonsSo there we have it, I may not be the best person to rate, but I did like the shave. If only it was better with more growth under the jaw then I would be singing from the treetops as it's a lot less effort than wet shaving. But, sadly, it's close but no cigar. It's still a study machine that would be a great investment for some. I have given it 4 stars as for an everyday or every other day shaver it would be perfect. It just doesn't do well after 4 days of growth and has poor edging skills. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Initially Great

I thought when first using the razor that it was pretty darn good, I don't normally use an electric razor. The Braun Series 9 charges so so quickly, quite unbelievably so in fact. On the front of my face the razor shaved really well, not leaving my skin dry or tight which was great. It didn't seem to get right into the crease of my mouth but that may have been me. Where it seemed to be quite a let down was my neck and under my chin where the skin is much softer in comparison. It didn't really shave much away at all. I tried various angles but still ended up back with we normal wet razor to finish the job. I'm going to persevere and hopefully as time goes on it may well do better. Fingers crossed. An excellent shave

I was a little apprehensive at first as i've tried several shavers in the past, but never found a good one. This shaver does an excellent job, even on tricky areas. It doesn't nip hairs and most importantly, it doesn't irritate. The charge time is excellent and comes with a hard case which is useful for travelling.I highly recommend this to anyone buying a shaver for the first time, or wanting an upgrade. "The Worlds Most Efficient Shaver"

The guys at Braun have sent me their new Series 9 Electric Foil Wet & Dry Shaver to try out which I absolutely LOVE! I've had the same electric shaver for about 4 years now so I was due an upgrade and this new release by Braun is the mother off all upgrades! This particular model is 100% waterproof so can be used when wet or dry shaving and I must say its the closest shave I have ever had from an electric shaver! If your like me and have very sensitive skin, this is perfect for you as it stops wet shave irritation. Its waterproof for upto 5m so if you like you can actually shave while under water! Not sure why you would but its an option! It's hard to make a shaver look good, but Braun have managed it! The whole design is aesthetically pleasing and wouldn't look out-of-place in any bathroom. The charging station is small so no bulky power packs and the wire length is perfect. The black with blue design is super stylish yet futuristic and sleek. Also the battery indicator is clear and simple to read so you can keep on track of battery life.Marketed as "The Worlds Most Efficient Shaver" I must say I have to agree! The thought and technology which has gone into this masterpiece are endless, 2 of my favourite features are the -10-D Contour Adaption - A fully flexible head with floating shaving elements which adapt to your skin and shaves more hair in 1 stroke than any other shaver.Five Shaving Elements - This helps to save time shaving, as it adjusts to your beard type and selects 1 of 5 elements to cut your hair with fewer strokes. The shaver comes with a travel case which I really like, and with its 50 minute battery life its a perfect travel companion! This will easily last you a few weeks if you were to go traveling and still wanted to keep your facial hair tamed!Overall I love this shaver from its design to its actual performance, it ticks all of the boxes for me! I'm a big big fan of electric shavers, and with the wet/dry features its versatility is great. The price could put some people off, but the way I think about it is that its going to last you a good few years, so if you work out how much you would be spending on disposables, it will probably save you money in the long run! Braun series 9 9240s review

Previous to receiving the 9240s i had an older Braun shaver (i believe it was series 3). This is definitely an improvement. In the shower, it gives a clean close shave and i felt it got in to all the contours if my face alot easier than my previous shaver. I also tested the other half of my face when dry, no shaving cream involved. Again i was inpressed with the result. I don't have much facial hair so i cannot say how it performs on thicker and more dense stubble. The only reason i rated 4 stars was that the dry half of my face was left ever so slightly red and mildly itchy, but i do have quite sensitive skin and have yet to find a shaver that has not done the same. Overall, i am impressed. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Suprisingly close shave!

For my entire shaving life, I have been convinced that manual shavers are the most effective way to shave. No electric razor has been comfortable or to be honest as easy as a manual head.Given this, I went into testing this product thinking that it would be just another electric razor. How wrong I was...The product itself looks and feels premium. Its got real substance to it and feel like its worth its value. When it came to the shave I was really suprised. It went through my stubble really quickly leaving me with a really close, smooth shave. The wet and dry element is also a real benefit!I would definately recommend this to anyone who is currently using manual razors. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

A close shave or a load of Buzz?

I received this product from Braun as a Trial / Test Product.I purchased a Braun 3 Series shaver a couple of years ago and this was advertised as a wet/dry shaver but unfortunately I was never drawn away from razor shaving. When I got the email for a trial on this I was pretty excited to see what a more expensive and more modern technology shaver would provide.I was very impressed when I first opened the box; the design of the product is very beautiful it has a great light feeling in the hand and the black sleek modern design makes it look very classy.Like most shavers it uses a 2 pin charger, once plugged in it sits very nicely into its own cradle and took up little room on the shelf. I was shocked how fast it actually charges to full which was within an hour or 2 so I was able to use it pretty quickly. The display for the battery is a nice looking blue LED display which continues the modern feel to the shaver; however after 3 uses of the shaver you do need to charge it again so the battery seems small. The shave itself is not as close as I would have liked (compared to a razor shave), in fact if you try using the shaver after a few days growth you might be in for a long and irritating trip to the bathroom. I have researched quite a bit into dry shaving and there does seem to be lots of techniques to it which helps improve the shave so I have found this interesting to experiment with. I found it best if you shave every day as it deals with short stubble much easier.I mostly used it for dry shaving as trying to shave in the shower is difficult as you cannot see if you missed bits so not quite sure on the advantage of this. I found using gel a bit strange as I might as well have just reached for my razer, but the shaver handled this well and was able to shave with no irritation. The trimmer on the back works pretty well but again didn’t feel that it gave the close shave to give you the clean lines that you want to see. It works pretty well to trim a beard or a few days growth if you don’t want to shave fully. The shaver is extremely easy to clean and collects most of the hair when shaving which is brilliant if like me you normally create a hairy mess when razer shaving.Overall the Braun 9240 is a very good looking product but for me the overall price would be a turn off however for someone that is an avid dry shaver this is a step above the rest. Personally the time it takes and the quality of shave for me didn’t live up to expectations but I will continue with my different techniques but currently my razer rules the bathroom. You get what you pay for.

For the past few years I’ve been using a quality shaver and have been really satisfied with it, that was until I tried the Braun Series 9 9240s, which I have used for the past few days, the Braun completely outperforms my old one. As soon as I held it I was impressed, it’s tactile, light, easy to hold in the shower, and beautifully styled. With the 4 separate blades it shaves absolutely superbly, and coped happily when I skipped a day, without pulling too much. It was also powerful enough to shave me quickly which helped lessen skin irritation. The head can lock into several positions if you wish, although I found it worked perfectly for me in the free floating position, easily getting into hard to shave areas such as under the nose. I tried it for a wet shave and it left my face as smooth as a baby’s you know what, perfect for a night out, it also performs brilliantly for a dry shave as well. The trimmer works well without having to put the shaver into odd positions to get at the hair. If you take pride in your grooming this is a no gimmicks piece of gear, and even at the top price end of a competitive market, worth the investment. One minor niggle is that even though it has a hard travel case I would still like to have a protective blade cover for when it’s in the bathroom cabinet.
