This is my second review for this item and I just have to say again that I am still in love with this item. If it broke tomorrow I would have to go and buy another one straight away as I won't be without it. I now regularly use the face brushes but I do find this easier when I am in the shower/bath as it can splatter about a bit. My skin is feeling very clear at the minute if not a little dry but I put that down to it bein winter months as this is quite standard for me. I also love the colour of this item, it is white with glitter and rose gold, two of my favourite colours! I am so glad that I got to try this item through Bzz as it is a little bit pricey and I probably would've had to wait until there was a newer model before being able to purchase this one. Thanks again
For as long as I can remember, hair removal for my underarms has been the bane of my life. I had regularly shaved but noticed re-growth was far too quick and I would always have a dark shadow as I’m olive skinned with dark hair. I’d waxed but the regular monthly outlay was getting too much so I decided to take the plunge and beat my fear and try an epilator instead. I’m not sure why but I’d always been scared of them but so many people had suggested I try it so I decided to try the Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa.So far I’ve been using it for a week and very impressed with the outcome. The packaging is sleek and I love the fact that it comes with several different attachments too and the massaging head does help reduce the initial discomfort. It was easy to set up and I love the fact that it can be used wet or dry, perfect for those mornings when I’m in a rush to get out and means I can epilate in the shower! The epilator unit itself is compact and very easy to use, with controls that are straight forward and provide different speed settings. It also has a light which was handy when in lower lighting conditions to catch those hairs you might have missed.I found the width of the head really helped with getting sufficient coverage and meant epilating was super quick and easy. It took about an hour to charge and so far I’ve not needed to recharge yet.
I have never used an epitator in my life, probably because I was scared of the pain so after finally being brave enough I gave this ago. The pain was bearable on the first go and the results have been excellent. I've got this out once a week to take off any new growth and it doesn't hurt at all after the initial go. It is waterproof and I've tried the epilator wet and dry and you definitely get a better finish dry. I haven't used the exfoliating heads but haven't had any in grown hairs either. If you have waxed regularly before it's a good alternative as the epilator will basically pay for itself in a short amount of time and it can be done from the comfort of your own home but does take slightly longer than waxing. The settings are easy to change and the epilator comes with small bush to clean and a handy little bag to keep all the accessories together. The electric razor is a good addition as it saves you from having to buy another product and can be used on more sensitive areas that you might not want to epilate. It is recommended on the instructions to charge after every use so it's ready for the next use which is reasonable but I had no issues with the battery lasting when I hadn't done this.
I was very excited and a little bit terrified about using the Braun Silk-epil SkinSpa 9-961V. I have never used an epilator and my first impression was it looked really complicated and had loads of parts. I read the instructions several times and charged it fully, jumped into the shower and decided to brave it (was terrified it would be painful). Unfortunately, no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get a clean shave of my leg. I concluded my hairs where too long ( blame the winter) and gave up. Decided to do a normal shave and try again when my hair had grown a bit. I do love the spa bits and my face over the massage PROSCan be used in the showerNot as painful as I expected Easy to use once set up CONSTo many parts. Changing from the epilator to the Skin Spa is not as simless as it involves you carrying about 6 different parts to into the shower Was painful enough to put me off shaving more sensitive bits Could do with clearer instructions Difficult to clean
I was pleased to have been selected for the Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa Epilator trial. I have never used an epilator before, so I was keen to give it a try and give an honest opinion. In the past the cost of Epilators has put me off buying one and most reviews say they are painful. On receiving my Buzz kit, I was quite concerned that there was a lot I parts and bits to the Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa Epilator so I slightly panicked. However there was clear concise instructions which made things a lot easier. I popped the Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa Epilator on charge and in less than an hour I was ready to go. The device itself is lightweight and quiet. There is an extra wide epilator head which also comes with a skin contact cap. Then there is a shaving head and trimmer (for the more sensitive areas. There is a fab exfoliation head with brushes which I was advised is good to do before using the main epilator head. So far used the epilator on my legs and under arms. At first using the device is a bit painful but this does subside the more you use it. I have used the product wet and dry and personally I prefer to use it dry as I feel it gives you a better finish. Underarms it is not as close contact removal as shaving but leaves the underarm feeling smoother. Legs have a much better finish than shaving. So far the good points definitely out ways any negatives; The good - The regrowth of hair is a lot less than shaving and it is a lot less messier than waxing. Hair does not feel prickly and the skin is a lot smoother than shaving. The Bad - The only down side is it is not pain free, it is not like the horror stories of epilators of old! However is it not a completely pleasant experience. But I would say once a month rather than shaving most days makes it a winner! Now to get brave and tackle the bikini area….
First things first, I need to come clean - until very recently I was an epilator virgin. I was always put off by all the gadgets, attachments and the fear that I could do something wrong...But I was very impressed with the Silk Epil. The instructions were detailed, but clear, and even had extra titbits of information for novices like me. The heads and attachments were easy to replace and swap around giving a huge variety of options and uses. But what most impressed me was how the usability had been thought of from every angle. A favourite feature is the in built light - as lovely as candlelit baths are, the dim light really doesn't help with personal hygiene regimes! The Silk Epil also discretely fits in a drawer, all the attachments, charger, and handset slip neatly together in the supplied bag. I was really impressed - the results were great too. I'm expecting my first child, so any bit of pampering I can get my hands on is greatly appreciated. It's a real treat!Great product.
I had never used an epilator before so was a little nervous to try the Braun Silk epil 9 system at first. I was impressed with the look of the product as there were so many extras: a shaver, massage pad, exfoliation brushes and more. I decided to try the epilator on my legs but was worried it might be painful so I chose the lowest setting and attached the skin contact cap before beginning. I needn't have worried as I hardly felt a thing and my legs were so soft and smooth afterwards!I've used the shaver on my armpits which worked brilliantly and have used the exfoliation brushes which feel very soft on your skin. I have also used the massage pad a couple of times but I can't say yet if it will improve the texture of my skin. All in all I think the Braun Silk epil 9 is a fantastic product and I won't be going back to my old razor anytime soon!
I have previously used the epilator from my Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa 9-961V on my legs and reviewed this, but as the set comes with 12 extras I decided to use the shaver head to do my underarms. The attachments were very easy to change swapping the epilator head for the shaver head. I like how both have protective cases over them protecting them from damage in the handy bag that comes with the kit to store everything in, handy for keeping everything together. The shaver comes with different attachments for a different shave and for different areas. The booklet explained well and it was not as complicated as I make it sound!Used the shaver and was really pleased with the finished result, smooth hair free underarms with really quick results!I also had a go using the exfoliation brush and massage pad. The set comes with a replacement brush and plastic covers to protect them making this kit well worth the investment. The brushes were great but the massage pad was my favorite. Gentle on the skin but with enough pressure to make a noticeable difference. The colours of the brushes are bright and attractive and I love the glittery handle of the main unit.
I was really excited to try the Braun Silk-epil 9 but I'm not completely convinced by it. I used the epilator function while in the bath so my skin was really moist as per the instructions but it didn't seem to grip the hairs very well to remove them. I wondered if the hairs were too long (I have a four month old baby and the winter has been long!) but they were within the parameters as described in the instructions. As I didn't seem to be having much luck epilating I thought I'd try the shaving attachment. Unfortunately this didn't seem much better upon initial usage. I referred to the instructions to ensure I wasn't doing anything wrong. When using the shaving attachement it says to have dry skin so I wonder if it could be due to residual moisture despite drying myself after the bath. I do think the instructions could have been clearer though to highlight using the shaving attachment on dry skin as it would be easy to miss this information.I did think that the light on the unit was a great feature as you could really see the skin and hairs well. I was skeptical about this initially but now I've tried it I'm definitely impressed with this feature. I also like the exfoliation and massage elements of the product. The exfoliation brush combined with scrub definitely helped to improve the appearance of my skin. This is something I'm keen to keep doing especially with the summer months looming. I was excited by the range of features and accessories that this product came with although it then ensures there is a lot to take in when it comes to deciphering the instructions. I felt that a diagram with worded labels to state what each part was would have been useful. At the moment I'm not completely convinced by this product. It works but it would take me a long time to become completely hair free using the product. Unless I'm doing something wrong that I cannot yet figure out from the instructions!! It has some great features though. The light on it is awesome and the exfoliation/massage features are great. I'm not going to give up on it as a hair removal device though and will definitely give it another go.
For those who are searching to find a pain-free hair removal technique, stop reading, this is not for you. We all desire to have hairless legs and go for the longest amount of time between de-fuzzing, but with that prize comes pain. Epilation is fab for increasing the length of time we can be hairless, but it is painful, at least, at first. On trying this new Braun Silk Epil 9, my experience of epilation was as bad as my first time ever, about 4 years ago. However, I have to admit it gets so much easier over time! If you can gear yourself up for it, just go for it and you will be rewarded! By the 3rd time, the pain was easily halved! Is this more painless than any other epilators I’ve tried? No. It’s the same. I would say that the advertising of “12 extras” is slightly misleading as some of these I would expect to be essential bits of kit, for example, covers for both brushes and a cleaning brush. Having said that, the components included with this pack are very comprehensive for all your hair-elimination needs, so it’s a perfect starter box! If you don’t want to epilate all areas, there is a shaver head attachment which works brilliantly. Unlike other epilators I’ve tried, this box set includes 2 protective caps which covers part of the epilation head to reduce the area you epilate, e.g. for eyebrows or bikini area. I must admit, I haven’t been brave enough to try this on my eyebrows!! This box set was created by people who obviously realise you don’t just epilate at home. All of the bits in the box are travel-friendly. There are the head covers mentioned earlier, a little drawstring bag and a lock mechanism that doesn’t easily get turned on. There are 2 speed settings, which is helpful, especially for the nervous, although I found positioning of the sliding button wasn’t intuitive for me. However, by the third attempt I had it nailed. The light – genius! I’ve used epilators without lights before and you are just waving the thing around in the dark, hoping to pick up every hair. It’s not possible without really good lighting and this has it in spades. Brilliant, especially for picking out those little fair hairs. It seems obvious, but the fact that this epilator is wireless is so user-friendly. My previous epilator was wired and I often found myself entangled in it, just trying to reach an awkward hair. The battery life seems pretty good so far so there are no down-sides so it’s being chord free.
